Mimi M. Kim, Ph.D. is a Research Fellow with the Center on Biobehavioral Research on Health Disparities within the Duke University Social Science Research Institute and a faculty member in the Division of Community Health, Department of Community and Family Medicine at Duke University. After completing her doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004 and a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University in 2006, Dr. Kim’s research has focused on the examination of health outcomes and racial health disparities with a particular emphasis on mental health and substance abuse services. Methodologically, Dr. Kim’s work is mostly characterized by mixed method study designs, survey development and psychometric work, in addition to the applicationa of various community-engaged research approaches to address racial health disparities.
